Before you travel

What is the Bali tourist levy?

Every foreign visitor to Bali pays IDR 150,000 once per visit. Pay it only on the official site, lovebali.baliprov.go.id, or at the airport counter. Ignore anyone asking for a different amount.

Do I need a visa for Indonesia?

Citizens of ASEAN countries can stay up to 30 days without a visa. Most other visitors need a visa on arrival (e-VOA): IDR 500,000 for 30 days, which you can extend once for another 30 days. Apply on the official site, evisa.imigrasi.go.id, at least 48 hours before you fly, or pay at the airport when you land. Check the rules for your passport before you travel.

What is Nyepi, and when is the airport closed?

Nyepi is the Balinese Day of Silence. For 24 hours, from 6 am, nobody goes out, there is no traffic and Bali airport is closed. In 2027 Nyepi falls on 8 March, so arrive by 7 March. Festivals & Events Calendar

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is not included in our tours. We strongly recommend it, especially for volcano hikes and boat trips.

On your trip

Are your tours private?

Yes. Every trip is private, with your own driver and guide. You don’t share the car or the guide with other travellers.

Do your guides speak English?

Yes. Every tour comes with a private driver and an English-speaking guide.

Can children join volcano hikes?

Children aged 10 to 11 can join treks on request, with a parent. Hikes often start in the dark and can be steep, so tell us your children’s ages when you book and we will tell you which hikes suit them.

How long is a tour day?

A tour day is up to 12 hours. Volcano trips start early: the Ijen trail opens just after midnight, so hikers start in the dark.

Volcanoes & national parks

What if a volcano is closed on my day?

We tell you on WhatsApp as soon as we know. If your plan has room, we try again the next day. If not, we swap it for another activity and refund the tickets for the part you missed. If the whole trip can’t go ahead, you choose a full refund or new dates. Park Rules & Closures

Can I climb to the top of Mount Semeru?

Not at the moment. The summit (Mahameru) is closed because of volcanic activity, and the whole trail has been closed since late August 2026 because of forest fires. When it reopens, hikers can only go as far as Ranu Kumbolo lake. Park Rules & Closures

Do I need to book Komodo in advance?

Yes. Since 1 April 2026, every visitor must be booked in advance by a licensed boat operator, and there are no tickets at the gate. Book at least 2 to 3 days ahead, and weeks ahead from June to August. On our tours, we do this for you.
